Voice of Graduate: TENDAI MUZHANGE

Hi there! I’m Tendai, an Actuarial Science graduate from Zimbabwe. In my experience, getting to where I am today is somehow a miracle. As an open minded individual, when a family friend recommended ZUST to me for my bachelor’s and I didn’t hesitate exploring the opportunity. I always believed that travelling around the world and embracing different societies and cultures will somehow enrich my life experience through aiding and acquiring knowledge and achieving success, and what better way to do it than to study here at ZUST.

Arriving here in Hangzhou in the late summer of 2018 is one of my most vivid memories, the weather was totally new to me and of course the environment as well. In the beginning of my studies I was so eager to learn and speak Chinese because I wanted to take full advantage of the experiences I was going to have. I participated in the One to One program where most foreign students would meet at the “Kafu Town” and have casual talks with other Chinese students.

I also participated in the chess club. I wouldn’t say I was the best, but I was definitely one of the players who came out top in some tournaments arranged by the ISU.

I once joined the ISU department where I was in the news and publicity department. I wrote a few articles and I discovered that trying new things wasn’t bad after all.

At one time, I also engaged in a volunteering program work at a kindergarten school in Fuyang, where that amazing experience gave me fond memories of playing with the little children.

As I said before, to be where I am today is a miracle. I thank God for the guidance and wisdom. My family was always there to support me. I believe I’ve made friends, connections and memories that I’ll hold onto so dearly. Most of all I’d like to extend my appreciation all my lecturers, tutors and the school at large for helping achieve what I’ve achieved now.

Lastly, I would encourage everyone to keep in mind that although burdens are heavy, remember that you aren’t lightweight.
